Mondays are rarely typical in the sense of time. On a day I would love to have some mental rest, I tend to fill up the day with meetings, conversations, and processing through the weekend. Never the less, it still means I need to find that time to be silent. Not sure I did a good job this Monday. Success at bringing several things to God in prayer, but I wouldn't say success at listening.
So, what are some of your obstacles to finding the times of silence and solitude? Also, have you found a successful way to get beyond that obstacle?

Just the busy-ness of life: job, housework, bills, children, family, and friends. But also the unexpected phone calls and unexpected conversations with neighbors that can be good and also sometimes "devine" appointments. I must also say TV and the internet are unfortunately obstacles of my choosing - need to work on that.
ReplyDeleteThe only successful way to get beyond these obstacles is to make finding times or silence and solitude a priority. We always make time for things that are important to us. I have to admit though, that I am not the best at making it a priority but am trying to improve.
